I am sure that I am not the only card maker who find making cards for men difficult so I thought that I would share these shed cards that I have made using the Lili of the Valley In the Shed stamp and some of the Autumn Morning Signature Collection by Sara Davies. I bought this stamp as an unmounted rubber stamp from a craft fair a few years ago but it is still available on their website as a digi stamp and the mix of textured elements could be applied to a variety of garden theme designs.
I made these cards as a batch, first stamping the In The Shed Stamp, which I have mounted onto EZMount, onto white card using Smokey Gray Versafine ink and clear embossing powder multiple times. I then coloured them using a mix of AquaBlend Pencils and Aqua Markers. I find that the pencils give a more muted finish with more texture but the pens can be used to mix a wider range of colour tones.
I also stamped the Happy Birthday stamp from the Forget-Me-Knot stamp set onto white card using Versamark Ink and gold embossing powder. I then die cut some of the Scattered Leaves Die set and the Flourishing Leaves die from brown card and applied King Gold gilding wax with my finger to give a metallic distressed finish.
Once all of the elements were prepared I then set about assembling cards using contrasting papers which I distressed and pieces of the hessian for texture. I also separated strands from the hessian and wrapped them around the papers using double sided tape at the back to hold them in place.
These designs could also be used for retirement cards and green fingered ladies who enjoy gardening.
